The Azimut S7 is a 70-foot sports yacht that was launched by the Italian boat builder in 2017. An utterly bold and undeniably original yacht, the S7 was awarded the title for “European Power Boat of the Year” at the 2018 Düsseldorf International Boat Show, as well as bagging the prize for “Best Technology Evolution” at the 2017 World Yachts Trophies held in Cannes. So why has the S7 been showered with such lavish praise? For one, the yacht simply looks incredible. A geometric exterior with a trapezoidal bow, angled walls, stainless steel brightwork and diamond-shaped side windows by Stefano Righini shimmers like a faceted jewel. The pioneering use of lightweight carbon-tech across the upper superstructure and flybridge, meanwhile, reduces overall tonnage and allows for a wealth of outdoor space that other yachts of this size simply cannot match. The optional sportsbridge comes equipped with a pair of helm seats and an upper control station, alongside a U-shaped forward sofa and a twin capacity sunpad. One level down and there is an aft-deck with the proportions of a beach club, hosting an L-shaped side sofa with a carbon-fiber metallic-effect breakfast table, a three-pad sunbed and a wet-bar with an icemaker and a barbecue grill. Side steps lead down to a full-beam, dark teak swimming platform that doubles in length when fully extended. You will also see the entrance to a transom tender garage down here, large enough for not one but two modern water toys. Out on the foredeck there is a low-slung, Portuguese Bridge-style sofa that comes with a Bimini cover, as well as a marina-facing sunpad with room for up to four sunbathers.
The inventive use of space, and signature geometric angles, continues when one enters the cockpit salon through sliding glass doors. This single-level space boasts a large port-side U-shaped sofa and plenty of cabinetry including a show-piece glassware display unit. Interiors come in two packages designed by Francesco Guida, Black Pearl or Platinum, utilizing materials such as brushed oak, gloss mahogany and lacquered carbon fiber. The full-sized main deck galley kitchen is positioned forward and includes double-height windows to the sides, veined marble worktops, Miele appliances and a wine cooler. This sits across from a raised helm station with an integrated Raymarine control tablet, a Penta Active Trim Control system and a Penta joystick.
Below deck there is room for 8 guests as well as a double bunk crew quarters. The full-beam amidship master stateroom benefits from six-pane mullions for plenty of natural light and positions its king-sized bed to an angle to open up space for a translucent HD TV stand that doubles as a partition for a niched dressing room with a sink and access to an en suite. Elsewhere there are a pair of twin rooms as well as another en suite master stateroom nestled towards the bow.
The Azimut S7 is just as cutting-edge in terms of performance as it is in terms of style. Triple Volvo Penta D13 IPS propulsion engines power the yacht to top speeds in excess of 36 knots, while at cruising speeds of more than 10 knots the vessel has a range of over 520 nautical miles. A planing hull designed by Pierluigi Ausonio cuts through the waves with ease, while an auto-balance system keeps the heel angle close to zero at all times. A safe voyage to the world’s premier destinations is further ensured thanks to CE Category A and NMMA certification, the highest possible industry standards for safety and reliability.
